Records and Information Management (RIM)
The District of Port Edward is dedicated to improving its operations through the adoption of modern practices that enhance efficiency and accountability. As part of this commitment, we are actively working on the development of a comprehensive Records and Information Management (RIM) Program, in alignment with our digital transformation goals and in compliance with legislative requirements.
Project Overview:
The RIM Program is designed to ensure the systematic control of both paper and electronic records across the District. This initiative is crucial in supporting responsible governance, operational efficiency, and long-term transparency by:
- Streamlining Record-Keeping: Reducing the time staff spend searching for records and improving access to essential information across the organization.
- Compliance with Legislation: Ensuring that all records management practices meet provincial legislative standards and best practices, safeguarding the District against risks.
- Supporting Digital Transformation: As part of our ongoing shift to a digital environment, the RIM Program will help manage electronic records and introduce modern tools for improved document handling and storage.
Key Program Goals:
- Implement standardized procedures for managing both physical and electronic records.
- Train staff on the importance of proper record-keeping and the use of new systems.
- Enhance the security and accessibility of the District’s records.
- Introduce tools for efficient email management, scanning practices, and network drive organization.
This initiative is a vital component of the District’s long-term strategy to modernize operations and improve overall service delivery, ensuring compliance and enhancing operational transparency.
