Christine MacKenzie

Councillor

I was born in Summerland BC and during my childhood we lived in Penticton and in the Castlegar area.

I moved to Prince Rupert at age of 18 where I worked at the Bank of Montreal for 3 years then moved to Rivtow (freight and barge operation).

I got married now going on 33 years and had my 3 children where I became a stay at home Mom for 15 years.  I’m now the proud grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren that keep me busy and very active.  I moved to Port Edward in 1991 and I love living here.

After my children were all grown up I returned to work as a Childcare worker with School District #52 for a while. I then worked for Williams Trucking followed by Clark Freightways as the Office Manager and then Freight Manager.  I am now semi-retired.

I have been part of Port Edward Council for 13 years where I continue to serve as a Councillor.

I am the alternate for the North Coast Regional District and attend meeting and conferences as a representative of our community.

I currently volunteer on the Prince Rupert Hospice Society and in the past I was involved with the Port Edward Lions Club as well as Success by 6, Prince Rupert Archives, Canadian Cancer Society, Port Edward School PAC and others.

I love our community and hope to continue being a part of growing our area but at the same time live in a natural environment. My goals for Port Edward would be for us to stay self-sufficient and peaceful place to live.

Port Edward feels like home to me “Peaceful and Friendly” I'm hoping we can continue working together for the better of our community.
